This Italian Sausage and Peppers Pasta features a rich medley of savory sausage, vibrant bell peppers, and al dente pasta, creating a satisfying dish ideal for family gatherings or a cozy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz pasta penne or rigatoni
  • 1 lb Italian sausage sweet or spicy
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 bell peppers 1 red, 1 yellow, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and garlic, sautéing until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Next, add the sliced bell peppers and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
  5. Add the Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and sprinkle with red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  8. Toss the cooked pasta into the skillet, mixing well with the sauce.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
